Based on the West Coast within our LA offices, the Employee Relations Advisor will be responsible for supporting operational excellence within the Employee Relations function for Burberry. This role includes resolving employee conflicts, coaching and counselling to resolve performance management issues, resolving reported employment and work environment complaints, interpreting and recommending Employee Relations policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state laws as well as internal guidelines.

Identifying compliance gaps and partnering with stakeholders and business to ensure alignment. The person in this role will deliver high quality employee relations and compliance, counsel and support, and must develop proactive solutions and otherwise addressing all manner and complexity of employee relations and compliance matters. The individual s behaviour must model the Burberry Behaviours and protect the culture of the Company.


Employee Relations

  • Handle complex and sensitive employee concerns and investigations, including interpersonal conflict in the workplace, terminations, employee complaints, ethics reports, and allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
  • Act as level two escalation for highly complex cases where additional considerations need to be made, and to provide those recommendations that mitigate risk.
  • Leads and develops consistent ways to manage cases and/or investigations across the business. Ensures investigations are conducted appropriately, including remote or onsite interviews with key individuals, effectively collect pertinent facts needed to resolve the case. Gathers evidence and facts required for conducting a proper assessment of the case; handling evidence in accordance with all company policies and guidelines. Researches and recommends action(s) to appropriately resolve cases and ensures that findings are documented consistently across the business.
  • Through reporting provides insights into trends and recommends policy to mitigate risk.
  • Strong and practical ability to identify and address employee relations issues providing advice and guidance to HR and business leaders for issues, such as policy/practice interpretation, performance management, disability management, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, or other issues representing significant risk to the organization.
  • Coordinates and supports the global Diversity and Inclusion agenda


  • Collaborate with corporate counsels and HR departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
  • Assess the business's future ventures to identify possible compliance risks
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate

Reporting Insights and Analytics

  • Oversee all ER related case, facilitate investigations with HR partners, and provide quarterly reporting on relevant metrics.
  • Working knowledge of current employee relations cases.
  • Consults with HR and business stakeholders to address root causes of human resources issues, attempting to resolve employee relations issues with a systematic proactive approach.
  • Identify and monitor metrics with HR community to ensure compliance with local and federal laws and evaluate effectiveness of employee relations responsibilities throughout organization.
  • Special projects as they are assigned.



  • Fluent in Spanish


  • Bachelor s degree in a relevant area of concentration required. Masters in HR a plus.
  • PHR or SPHR certified also preferred. Law degree (JD) a plus.


  • Minimum of 1 year comparable ER advisory experience within a corporate-based environment.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws.
  • Extensive experience conducting and managing investigations of complex/sensitive workplace complaints, and government agency claims and audits, including EEOC and state discrimination charges and OFCCP audits, and internal ethic reports.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues and facts and summarize essential issues to various audiences.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to multi-task, deals with ambiguity, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
