Manager - Safety (Full Time)

Location: Las Vegas Neva Country: United States of America

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Manager - Safety is to oversee and enforce the safety policies and procedures of the Company. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort's policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and chairs Facilities and Development Safety Committee.
  • Works directly with Property Safety Director.
  • Researches and coordinates implementation of regulatory agencies governing the operations of The Venetian | The Palazzo, ie, OSHA, EPA, CCFD.
  • Provides Safety information and requirements for Engineering (309 engineers), PAD, Tech Services, and Aviation Department.
  • Writes and implements compliance programs.
  • Removes Team Members and contractors from any jobs that are being performed in an unsafe manner/environment or outside OSHA standards.
  • Ensures that all OSHA regulations are understood and complied with by members of the Facilities team.
  • Organizes training classes, ie Annual Training, Fire Extinguisher Training, and Fall Protection.
  • Maintains records of Team Members in Engineering, PAD, Tech Services, and Aviation.
  • Maintain disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintains records of all hazardous disposals, including packing training and Annual Inspections from NDEP and SNHD.
  • Coordinates with Insurance Companies and Fire Department onsite inspections.
  • Oversees that all Safety programs are being maintained and equipment is available.
  • Inspects shop to include proper chemical storage and MSDS Binder review.
  • Leads monthly safety meetings.
  • Investigates safety incidents and prepares evaluation reports when needed.
  • Inspects scrim and scaffolding of Condo Tower for general safety.
  • Identifies and reports items that may need fixing and provide analysis and recommendations if needed.
  • Creates procedures for emergency evacuations.
  • Inspects the Window Cleaning Suspension System annually to determine if any repair and/or maintenance is needed.
  • Inspects for mold abatement.
  • Conducts Slip Coefficient tests and tenant inspections.
  • Manages responsibilities for the department to include: hiring of new Team Members, promotions, creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, discipline, recognition, and termination.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Able to present to large groups and conduct training programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 5 years of Safety supervisory experience with large corporation .
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations.
  • Training certifications in OSHA 501.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
