Role Overview The Landfill Technician/Plant Operative will play a key role in supporting safe, efficient, and compliant operations across the site. Reporting to the Line Manager, this role involves operating and maintaining plant equipment, supporting daily production activities, and ensuring high standards of housekeeping, safety, and operational efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Safely operate and maintain all plant and mobile equipment in line with company procedures. Support efficient site operations by monitoring equipment, controlling traffic flow, and identifying abnormal operating conditions. Operate and inspect equipment, record operational data, and report accidents, equipment damage, malfunctions, or emerging trends. Take corrective action as directed to resolve abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations. Perform planned preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and assist with equipment repairs as required. Operate on a picking line as part of daily operations. Carry out sweeping and cleaning of floors, roadways, and paved areas across the site. Perform painting, clean-up work, and general housekeeping duties as required. Provide support to maintenance and operational teams when necessary. Work overtime or extended hours when required due to unusual operating conditions, breakdowns, or major overhauls. Follow all company procedures, health and safety policies, and site rules at all times. Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by management.Qualifications Education and/or Experience Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification. Previous experience operating Front End loaders or other mobile plant equipment. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools. Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CSCS card for Loader, Forklift, and/or MEWP would be advantageous. Ability to take appropriate and safe action independently during emergency or unusual situations to prevent injury or equipment damage. Work Environment Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, plant equipment, high places, and outdoor weather conditions. Occasional exposure to confined spaces, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, heat, and vibration.
