Johnson Matthey is currently seeking an EC&I Project Engineer who will support on a major new project at their Royston site. This role will ensure that the EC&I scope of the new project is in compliance with JM and appropriate standards and regulations
Focus will be on delivery of a plant that is_ Safe to operate, fully documented, and efficient to Operate and Maintain.
This new project will form part of an upper tier COMAH facility, and as such will have an emphasis on ATEX, Functional safety, electrical systems, Alarm management, EHS Critical equipment etc.
This role also includes working closely with the JM EC&I dept to ensure alinement with requirements.
Principal accountabilities
Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture and ensure adherence to JM policies (including HR/EHS/Security).
Implement standards for Alarm Management, meeting the requirements of EMMUA 191.
Deliver the EC&I scope of 3CR in compliance with the appropriate standards and regulations
Deliver the project on time and to budget
Deliver a plant that is fully documented, and efficient to Operate and Maintain.
Represent JM engineering on the project
Liaise with the Project team, Operations, and Maintenance to ensure that the right EC&I systems are implemented.
Safety Instrumented Systems with their associated proof testing
Support safe operation of equipment through implementation of recognised standards such as IEC61508 to ensure all electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment operates correctly to achieve functional safety.
Implement recognised standards with regards functional safety such as IEC61511 to ensure safety of our processes through use of instrumentation.
Ensure that electrical compliance is achieved through adherence with all legislative requirements.
Coordinate EC&I scope of work relating to systems and infrastructure, as well as other interfaces requiring EC&I support.
Compile project technical/design specifications for EC&I works packages
Person specification
Engineering degree, or equivalent in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation
5+ years of industrial project work experience ideally within a chemical industry.
Experience in design and implementation of electrical projects, including distribution systems
Relevant experience with EC&I in the processing industry.
Experience with SCADA packages and Alarm Management. Preferred is Rockwell
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Instrumentation & Process Control
Understanding of DSEAR/ATEX regulations.
Experience with recognised standards with regards functional safety such as IEC61511 to ensure safety of our processes through use of instrumentation
Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs
