REED ACCOUTANCY are working with an award-winning legal firm based in Southend who is looking for a Legal Cashier to provide maternity cover on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis, with the potential for a permanent position thereafter.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a legal account setting and a working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules.

• Processing bills and ensuring ledger accuracy.
• Conducting client to office transfers.
• Handling the accurate and timely processing of client and office account payments, including cheque production and telegraphic transfers via electronic banking.
• Posting legal aid transactions and managing related processes.
• Checking and balancing client completion statements and probate statements.
• Calculating interest and ensuring compliance with money laundering regulations when processing transactions.
• Assisting with daily bank reconciliations and managing outstanding receipts.
• Managing petty cash and processing and paying expenses.
• Assisting with purchase ledger transactions and general banking duties.
• Performing analysis and ad hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Manager.
• Providing cover for accounts staff during absences.
• Ensuring strict adherence to Solicitors Accounts Rules and firm policies.
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times.

• Experience in a legal account setting.
• Working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial matters.
