Data Security Architect - 6 months - Hybrid - Inside IR35

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Security Architect to join our dynamic internal integrations team on a 6-month contract, with the view to extension for over 12 months. This exciting role, signed off inside IR35, is offered by a prestigious large-scale financial client, providing an excellent opportunity to work within a hybrid environment from their offices in London and Swindon.

As a Data Security Architect, you will safeguard our client's systems, focusing on service mesh, container platforms, and data solutions. You will design, implement, and maintain security measures to protect sensitive data, prevent unauthorized access, and mitigate risks. Your expertise will ensure the client's infrastructure and applications are secure, compliant, and resilient.

Key Responsilbites:

  • Collaborate to design secure, scalable architectures for containers, data mesh, and Kafka.
  • Implement security controls for container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Enforce container image security: vulnerability scanning, image signing, runtime security.
  • Work with service mesh technologies and implement mTLS.
  • Secure data mesh components: data lakes, warehouses, pipelines.
  • Implement encryption, access controls, and auditing for Kafka; monitor anomalies.
  • Produce threat models from technical design reviews.
  • Design and implement authentication (OAuth, JWT) for APIs and services.

What you will Ideally Bring:

  • Proven experience as a Security Architect in a large, complex organization, ideally within a financially regulated enterprise (eg, PCI compliance).
  • Essential experience with service mesh, container platforms, and data solutions like Kafka.
  • Knowledge of risks related to data exposure, privilege escalation, and denial-of-service attacks.
  • Experience securing service mesh and container platform implementations.
  • Ability to assess and challenge security aspects of technical designs to improve outcomes.
  • Good understanding of application security issues (eg, XSS vs. SSRF, OWASP T10, API security).
  • Strong knowledge of cryptography.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts.
