All Austin Health metropolitan based Cancer Services are delivered within the Olivia Newton-John Cancer, Wellness & Research Centre (ONJ Centre) at the Austin Hospital. This state of the art facility provides a model of individualised cancer care for patients and families. Austin Health is one of the largest cancer service providers in Victoria. A complete range of services are delivered to patients and their families, including medical oncology, clinical haematology, radiation oncology, cancer genetics, palliative car, wellness & supportive care, volunteer program and specialist cancer surgery. These are all provided in an environment that integrates research, teaching and training.
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic qualified Music Therapist to join our Wellness and Supportive Care program to provide therapeutic support to patients and families. The successful applicant will form part of the exciting Arts in Healthcare team which looks for opportunities to bring art and creativity into the hospital setting to support patient wellness and recovery through a referral based system with both inpatients and outpatients.
The Arts in Healthcare team is a core component of the ONJ Centre and supports people through their treatment from diagnosis to end of life care. The program focuses on enabling patients to feel in control of their lives, connect with wellness and process their experience through artistic expression and reflection.
The successful applicant will be a creative practitioner who can build connections between allied health, nursing and medical teams. The opportunity exists for the Music Therapist to bring their passion and creative flair to the role and to deliver person centred care.
